Manual Linear Damper Actuator (LDA)

Easy Operation

By turning the hand wheel clockwise, the Velocity Damper blade will open up, allowing less restricted air flow through the nozzle and into the boiler. By turning the hand wheel counter-clockwise, the damper blade’s set point will lower and effectively close down the size of the port opening.

Overview

  • Purpose: Used for manual adjustments to the set position of the Velocity Damper.

  • Functionality: Enables Operators to control the mass flow of combustion air independently from velocity.

  • Airflow Control: Typically adjusts air through secondary and tertiary port openings.

  • Manual Adjustment: Exists only in systems where dampers are manually controlled, not automated.

  • Field Operation: Requires Field Operators to make adjustments directly at the boiler as needed.

  • Automation Contrast: Not used with dampers controlled automatically via pneumatic positioners from the Control Room.

  • Application: Commonly used in recovery boilers for precise control of combustion air distribution.

  • Operational Flexibility: Provides a hands-on method for fine-tuning airflow in non-automated systems.
