Port Cleaner/Damper Inspection, Maintenance and Repair

SHB’s key staff was a significant part of the early development of the Automatic Port Cleaning system way back in the late 1980’s so we know, in depth, all the different generations that have been offered through the years.   We provide the only 100% US designed, engineered and manufactured equipment (including parts) made with superior quality materials tailored for the harsh recovery boiler environment. SHB offers a two-year warranty against manufacturer defect.  SHB continues to improve and advance port rodders with an emphasis on simplifying maintenance requirements. Service contracts available so you can plan your year in advance and know what your maintenance will be on the port cleaners and dampers. Our team of experienced Technicians will care for your equipment like no one else can

Soot Blower Inspection,
Maintenance and Repair

SHB’s experienced technicians will provide on-site inspection and generate a list of recommended parts and repairs needed.  While on site they will quickly and efficiently complete repairs and, if necessary, report anything needing completion later.  SHB’s experienced technicians are often a good option to bring on board when mill workers are over-loaded and need additional assistance. 

Engineering Procurement & Construction Supply (EPC)

SHB will carry out the detailed engineering design of your project, procure all the equipment and materials necessary, and then construct to deliver a functioning facility or asset to their clients.  We will execute and deliver the project within an agreed time and budget.

Boiler Inspection

With our mobile boiler imaging camera SHB personnel will perform internal inspection of any areas of concern while the boiler is online.  This provides visibility of the upper furnace sections and observation of any deposition that may be of concern.  Additionally, observation of soot blower operation is possible to help determine effectiveness of cleaning in critical sections.  This inspection provides real-time feedback to help manage boiler operation, improve maintenance activity and enhance safety conditions. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Combustion Modeling

SHB provides CFD modeling of your boiler to determine the problem areas and verify the proposed solutions.  Over the last 22 years SHB personnel have modeled over 80 boilers consisting of hundreds of cases and combustion air systems of every type.  SHB’s chief engineer, Dan Higgins, is arguably the most experienced in the world when it comes to modeling boilers.

Boiler Evaluation and Engineering Services

SHB conducts on site evaluations of your boiler including but not limited to:  air system evaluations, economic justifications, boiler loading evaluations and support systems to determine the deficiencies and make recommendation for solutions. Depending on the customers needs we also provide engineering studies to identify the extent of the project to provide the information required to have the installation portion of the project bid by independent contractors.
